Mr. Jeyachandran, 23 years of age is a class XII qualified boy, residing in #10, 2nd Street, Jeeva Nagar. Korukkupet, Chennai.

He has two brothers. The elder brother is employed in Singapore and is well settled, while the younger one is doing his higher secondary course and has also completed his Class XII. He had also enrolled in ITI, however was unable to complete his course. Jeyachandran's father is working in a transport company.

Initially Jeyachandran was self employed and to make the electronic chokes, however this did not provide him enough means to earn his livelihood since all he could earn was a maximum of Rs.3500 a month.

Going through a newspaper advertisement of SAFAL' courses, Jeyachandran decided to join the Customer Services course, which could fetch him a reasonable salary with a scope of job security. He joined the course in October 2007.

He has 95% class attendance to his credit and his performance percentage is 80%

At present, he is appointed as a sales promoter of Bluetooth at Egmire, Chennai and his present promised salary is Rs.5000. He is happy and feels that there is a lot of scope in this new profession.

 

Suganthi.N comes from Subauppalavad and lives with her father, who is a labourer, mother and two younger brothers. She studied Higher Secondary Courses (+2) in Govt Trainee School but could not qualify the examinations.

When she came to know about SAFAL conducting the Nursing Assistant Course, she joined it along with her friends.

She scored well in her training examinations and is now working in Dr Thambaiya Ortho Clinic, Cuddalore.

She believes that this course has increased her confidence level and has helped her start a new life

 

Bharathy.R comes from a lace called Phudhur kiramam and lives with her father and two brothers. Her father who is a labourer earns about Rs.1800 per month and the whole family survived on that. She did go to the school but was unable to complete her education and failed in +2 examinations.

When she was not aware of the SAFAL training course, she thought that she would work as a labourer and would try and make ends meet, however when she met the SAFAL animators, she along with her friends applied for the Nursing Assistant Course and did well in her training.

She is now placed with Dr.Sivakumar in Cuddalore and feels happy with her life.

 

Vadivelu,(18 years of age) belongs to a very poor family and has 3 sisters and 2 brothers. After his parents died, he got no support from his relations,not even from his brothers. His brothers are all married and Vadivelu had to struggle hard to earn his living. He used to work as a labourer in the agricultural sector and used to wash boats for others. However, after Tsunami all the agriculture land in and around the village was destroyed and he was left with no work. It became very difficult for him to survive.

this time SAFAL gave him an opportunity to undergo a Hospitality training programme for three months. They provided him with traveling allowance and other miscellaneous allowances for the 3 months training. During the training, he was taught English and other necessary skills.

After completing the training he got a job with the “Ajantha Sea View” Hotel at Pondicherry and is now earning Rs.2500/- per month along with free accommodation and food.

The Hotel owner appreciates his work and he is placed amongst the top 10 staff members of the hotel.

Vadivelu is extremely thankful to SAFAL for guiding him and providing him with the opportunity to lead a better life
